How to choose plywood

Plywood is made of three or more layers of one millimeter thick veneer or thin board glued by hot pressing. The common ones are three-plywood, five-plywood, nine-plywood and twelve-plywood (commonly known as three-plywood, five-percentage board, nine-percentage board, and twelve-percentage board in the market).

When choosing plywood, pay attention to the following points:

1. The plywood has the difference between the front and back sides. When selecting plywood, the wood grain should be clear, the front surface should be clean and smooth, not rough, and it should be flat and free of stagnation.

2. Plywood should not have defects such as damage, bruises, bruises, and scars.

3. There is no degumming phenomenon in the plywood.

4. Some plywood is made by pasting two veneers with different textures together, so when choosing, pay attention to the joints of the plywood should be tight and there is no unevenness.

5. When choosing a splint, you should pay attention to choosing a splint that does not loose glue. If the sound is brittle when you knock on various parts of the plywood, it proves that the quality is good. If the sound is muffled, it means that the plywood has loose glue.

6. When selecting veneer panels, attention should also be paid to uniform color, consistent texture, and coordination of wood color and furniture paint color.

China National Standard for Plywood: Plywood Grades

According to “Plywood-Specification for classification by appearance of plywood for general use” (Plywood-Specification for classification by appearance of plywood for general use), ordinary plywood is divided into four grades according to the material defects and processing defects visible on the panel: special grade, first grade Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3, among which Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 are the main grades of ordinary plywood.

Each grade of ordinary plywood is mainly determined according to the allowable defects on the panel, and the allowable defects of the back panel, the inner veneer and the processing defects of the plywood are limited.IMG_3664
